2020 Hyundai Kona

Motor Trend nailed it when they commented on the new Hyundai Kona: “This is probably the most compelling vehicle in its class.  Not only does it look cool but it's relatively sporty and fun to drive.”  Then Car and Driver awarded the Kona as the Best Subcompact SUV for 2019.  Praises continue with other car critics/writers such as the trustworthy organization Consumer Reports who gave the Hyundai Kona one of their cherished “Check Marks” as a Recommended Vehicle.
Don't just take anyone's word for it and just do your own due diligence with an up close and personal inspection of the Kona with the friendly folks at Huffines Hyundai McKinney located at 1301 N. Central Expressway or by calling the dealership at 469.525.4300 and take your expectations for a spin.  Easy as that.  You will pleasantly discover that the Hyundai Kona looks stylish with sporty attributes of a cascading grille and it's “cat's eyes” LTD headlights combined with tough looking broad shoulders as a “head turner”.

The new Kona from Hyundai is so attractive in its own ways and promises to be as much fun to drive as it is to be seen in.  Delivering that “fun factor” in front of its sporty steering wheel is the choice of three energetic power plants.  The standard and perky naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four delivers nearly 150 feisty ponies and gives out a good amount of  “get-up and go” torque.  It is mated to a six-speed automatic.

For more zip in your trips, then also test drive the 1.6-liter turbo four that punches out 175 lively horses and an awesome 195 lb-ft of asphalt grabbing torque.  This turbo is paired to a smooth shifting seven speed dual-clutch automatic that is tuned perfectly with a crisp throttle response.  This combo will put you at 60 mph in just a little over seven seconds with the all-wheel drive setup.  To increase the fun factor feeling and the beginning of a grin, just slip your Kona into the Sport Mode which will make the throttle even better and the shorter gears hold revs longer as you take on those country curves.

Wait there is more, as this year Hyundai adds a full-electric power plant to the Kona with a huge 64.0 KWH battery that allows it to qualify for the 250 mile club for electric vehicles. Congrats Hyundai.  The electric Kona has a 210 horsepower electric motor that delivers 290 lb-ft of neck-jerking torque in a very calm and quiet manner and will get you at 60 mph in just a blink over six seconds.  The quickest Kona and most fuel efficient in the proud family.

Inside, you will appreciate the room, comfy seats, and abundance of storage space and gobs of technology.  Everything you desire for communication and entertainment is at your fingertips with many available safety features to put you at ease.  Everything just seems to come together with the new Hyundai Kona and as Car and Driver said: “It is proof that not all crossovers are equal”.  No better time than now to check one out.  You will not be disappointed.
